About Rebecca
Inspired by nature, her dreams, and experiences in the fine arts, Rebecca Koven's Jewelry reflects timeless beauty with a unique blend of modern style and classically nurtured design. She incorporates organic elements into her lush and generous pieces, which easily accessorize daytime or evening attire.
Rebecca was born in Canada and was educated in Switzerland, at the University of Concordia in Montreal, Quebec, and at the University of Toronto in Ontario; her disciplines were in Art Restoration and Art History. Following graduation, Sotheby’s in Toronto employed her for four years. She has traveled extensively and has gathered inspiration from these many experiences. Her creations recall various influences ranging from the delicate Flora and Fauna of Boticelli to the stark yet refined simplicity of the Asian cultures.
Rebecca’s artistic renderings are whimsical; yet, she herself is driven by perfection. At her New York studio, she sketches her ideas, then, carves some of the elements in wax. These elements are cast in gold or carved in stone. The gold is handcrafted in India, and master craftsmen in Brazil, Hong Kong, Thailand and Germany carve the precious and semi-precious stones. In the end however, Rebecca herself skillfully renders the ultimate realization of the design into a one of a kind colorful creation.
Rebecca Koven has designed for Fred Leighton and her work may be seen at: Stephen Russell, New York, Camilla Dietz Bergeron, New York, Aspen (seasonal) and Neiman Marcus.
